Rainbow Pre-School Room

The Rainbow Day Nursery Pre-School Room caters for children aged from three years and older.

We are part of the Department of Education Northern Ireland (D.E.N.I) Pre-School Expansion Programme which offers free funded places for those children in their immediate school year.

The D.E.N.I. Programme operates 38 weeks of the year: Monday – Friday 0900 to 1200.

The Admissions criteria used in the event of the Nursery being over subscribed in relation to the D.E.N.I. funded places is documented in the North Eastern Education & Library Board (NEELB) Book, detailing the Open Enrolment Admission Information for Pre-School Education. Click on the previous links for more information.

The Pre-School Curriculum is broad and varied and is based in the N.I. Curricular Council Guidelines for Pre-School Education.

The areas for Development and Learning are;

  • Early Mathematics
  • Early Science
  • The Arts
  • Language
  • Personal, Social and Emotional
  • The World Around Us

The Curricular Planning is led by Children’s own ideas, opinions and contributions. A Booklet is available giving more detailed information about the Pre-School Room and the D.E.N.I places and curriculum.

The Rainbow Private Day Nursery  has good relationships with the local Primary Schools in the Larne area. This ensures that the education received at the Rainbow Day Nursery will prepare your child for embarking on their journey into school life.

The Nursery employs an Early Years Specialist whose role is to advise and give guidance as required. The D.E.N.I. Inspection Report for the Rainbow Day Nursery Pre-School unit 2010 can be viewed at the Education Training Expectorate Website.
